Astounding. It 's also astounding I 've never run into this
issue before. It 's not like I never write subqueries.
I think I 'm going to write an article about this. More
people need to understand this subtle issue of how
subqueries (don 't) work. I still disagree with the approach
that you and Tom (Kyte) describe, but that doesn 't really
matter a whole lot now, because the behavior "is what it
is ", whether I like it or not.
